San Joaquin County incentives
Ava Community Energy offers the most substantial storage funding in our service area. Its market-rate path pays about $90 per kWh of battery capacity, and its income-qualified path pays about $500 per kWh, plus roughly $3 per month for every kWh you share back with the grid, for five years. Those apply to Ava-served homes in Stockton, Tracy and Lathrop. Lodi Electric customers work under the city utility’s own terms instead. Statewide SGIP funding can also support storage for qualifying households. The federal 30% credit for purchased home solar ended December 31, 2025, while some third-party-owned lease and PPA programs can still apply a federal credit through 2027.
Program rates, sharing requirements and income thresholds are set by the agencies and revised periodically, and enrollment can close when funds run out. What you actually receive depends on your address, your provider and your eligibility, which we verify at quote time.

What exactly is Ava Community Energy on my bill?
Ava is the public agency that buys your electricity while PG&E still delivers it and bills you. Its storage incentives are separate from PG&E and among the best available here.
I live in Lodi. Do the Ava incentives apply to me?
No. Lodi has its own city-owned electric utility, so Ava programs do not cover Lodi addresses. We quote you against Lodi Electric’s terms instead.
What does sharing battery capacity back actually mean?
Under the Ava structure, you let the program draw on part of your stored power at certain times in exchange for a monthly payment per shared kWh. We walk through the tradeoff before you sign anything.
Can you handle a panel upgrade and the solar in one project?
Yes, and that is usually the cheaper order of operations. One permit set, one inspection trip and one crew rather than two separate jobs.
